Peasant's Rebellion in Gresten

On the barn at Gseng were three plaques referring to the peasant's revolt. I do not know as much about these as I would like, but the phenomena was frequent in Austria and elsewhere in Europe before and after 1597. A link with some general information is available. Click on the thumbnails below to see the full texts and image in their own windows.

The tablets make referenceto a "Holzapfler, ...the Schadneramt, and...Gseng." A Hans Teufel of Oberhafenberg is referred to. Recall that the Teufel family were also Exulanten and married with the Hasselbachers.

Historical Tablets inside the Chapel

The text of the plaques duplicates the text of the larger plaques inside the chapel. (Can anyone help with the translation? I will give a free map of Diespeck to the person who does!)
