The town of Diespeck is a 45 km drive from the heart of Nürnberg. The earliest settlers to the region in the mid 1600's settled just to the southwest of Neustadt (about where the circled "k" is) as will be detailed in other maps. The towns highlighted in pink are significant places where various families settled down.
The role of Ansbach in this family history had been uncertain. Some sources had the founder of the Hazelbaker family of America coming from Ansbach. More recent clarification proves he was born in Münchsteinach, a bicycle ride from Diespeck. Some Hasselbachers did eventually settle in Ansbach, but they were from another family line and arrived from intermediate locations near Puschendorf and Emskirchen.
