The first spool of microfilm of the Todtenweis Church Records I looked through had an index of early baptisms, and a set of Family Registers from as early as 1787. There were two Helfer families, and to my surprise, this record for Dominicus Bayerl.  The indexer from more modern times wrote the name Bayerl without the umlaut.  A still more modern historian in the last decade wrote the name as Baierl.

House number 15. (Spar) Dominicus Baÿrl, born 2 March 1781. Married 7 ?Feb 1809 to ?Creszenz.  She was born 17 ?Sep 1777 and appears to be marked as deceased in this record.  No children are listed and the record appears crossed off. Another family is listed beneath this one.

House #15 is only 3 doors away from the house #25 of Xaver Helfer of that era. (Not sure which generation of Xaver as there are several.) It may not have been an accident that a Helfer married a Baÿerl!!
