Birth Record Jakob Ecker: 1720

This is a detail of the birth record of Jakob Ecker, the first Ecker to be born in Unterreichenbach.  I also include an image of the full page below for several reasons.  It is the first page of a new volume of records and gives an idea of the 'look' of the records.  It is also important, even necessary to provide a broader selection of text when trying to translate the script.  For example, on this page, the writer may form the same letter in several different ways, depending on context. Additionally, it is fun to see some of the other names on the pages.  For example, the Eckers marry with the Fischers and the Bohnenbergers both.  The multiplicity of records helps clear up ambiguities and errors. Having more than one example of a name or place makes it possible for someone like me to figure out what is being written. For example, the name 'Straub' above. (Straubin is the feminine version.)

In this record we see that Jacob was born on the 26th of July in 1720 at a specified time of day. His father is "Hans Gerg Eckber" Mahlmüller zur Reichenbach ... Hallwangen ..., and mother Anna Barbara Straubin born Eutingen ..... .  The fourth column lists the god-parents. (Anyone who can help fill in the gaps is invited to help!)

By the way, I have not yet figured out exactly what is meant when 'Reichenbach' is referred to.  Old maps of the area show a Reichenbach nearby to the south, as well as an Oberreichenbach. Hopefully when I visit the town all will be explained.
