I had traced several Eckers internments to Fairmont as early as 2008 where I found the unmarked grave for Great-Great-Grandmother Hannah Squire.  However, on two visits I cound not locate the Civil War stone for her German-born husband, William Ecker.  In 2014, I arranged for a stone to be placed on Hanna's grave next to that she had placed for her son Lewis who she outlived.  Because I assumed that Abraham's name had eroded off his stone, I had his name placed together with Hanna's on her stone.  It was what I would have wanted if I were one of them.  As luck or fate would have it, after the new stone was placed, I found Wilhelm's stone which was still readable.  Here is what they look like.

The flag in the background lies in the middle of the Civil War section of Farimont.

Section 22 Lot 373, Grave 2.

When I visited in the summer of 2015, I found a flag that someone had placed on Memorial Day earlier that year. People keep track!

And here is William's (Abraham Wilhelm)

I took other photos to assist people infinding thesewhich I will post later.  There are other Eckers in Fairmont.  William's brother Friedrich who was in the same Regiment with him and with whom he was very close, was also initially burried in the Civil war section.  He was disinterrred later and buried with his wife Barbara (b. Bohnenberger) just up the road and across from the Civil War section.  I will try to post a map of the cemetery with additional information about the family.

Here are some maps I had posted earlier.
