| This is the earliest record I have so far about Hannah. Her family lived in Clinton Township which includeded current Livingston, Maplewood, and parts of E. Orange and Newark. I have some interesting information about her father from his published obituatary available in the family tree section of the site. (There is another Squire family in the 1850 living not far away whose head was also a shoemaker and who had a daughter nemaed Hannah. I have wondered if the families were related.) I have never learned what Hannah's middle initial 'E.' stood for. Her mother's maiden name was Harrison, a name that was used as a middle name in some of her descendants. It is curious that the family living next door was a Harrison: possibably her brother? On the other side lives Abby W Squire, the same age as Henry. Mary H. Squire, two years older than Hannah would marry William Ecker's brother, Christian; a second marriage for them both. Note the curious spelling of "Henery." |
