There is some interesting information here. Kinne applied for the passport on 1 July 1897 and stated that he would return by 1 Nov 1897. We are not told where he wanted to go, and Greg Humphry could not find a passenger list.
There are good personal items about Kinne. He was born in Syracuse, NY on 21 Oct 1860. At the time of the application he lived in Council Bluffs Iowa and worked as a telegraph operator. We have his signature as well as details from a personal description.
