The Hazelbaker News: A "Relative" Newspaper.

An Archive.

In the five years between 1985 and 1989, Randall and Mary Kay Hazelbaker published "The Hazelbaker News," a newspaper-formatted collection of stories and information about the Hazelbaker family, old and new. In the years between 1993 and 1994, three or four additional "Newsletter" updates were published in a simpler, letter-sized format. The Hazelbakers (Randy in particular I think) were and are active Hazelbaker genealogists with an emphasis on the families in the Midwest. Randy has given me permission to reproduce these materials in this website for use by the broader family. I will need to experiment a bit about the best way to format and post these materials, but rather than letting the perfect be the enemy of the good, I want to get started with something at least. I expect to use this page as a "Table of Contents" with links to the individual documents.

Volume 1: August 10, 1985. This issue contains one version of the "Coming to America" story about Peter Hasselbacher/Hazelbaker. There are photographs of tombstones from the Howe Cemetery near the first Hazelbaker homesteads in Old Allen Township, Pennsylvania. There are a few photographs and profiles of several Hazelbakers, including the Civil War veteran, Andrew Jackson Hazelbaker (1836-1896).

Volume 2: The Heirs of Peter Hazelbaker. Marriage records. Blue Creek Cemetery, and more.

Volume 3:

Volume 4: This edition had 2+ pages of mailing addresses of Hazelbakers from 1998.  I judged this as" too much information" about living people. If you can prove you are family, me know if there is something specific you are interested in.

Volume 5:

Hazelbaker Newsletter Updates.

1st Ed, 1993

2d Ed.  (Looking for a copy! Can anyone help?)

3d Ed.  Jan 1994

4th Ed.  Feb 1994

Comments:
I wanted to this material up.  The documents have been processed with optical character recognition and should be searchable using your PDF reader, and hopefully by Google Search.  I have not taken the time to prepare even a brief list of what is in these issues to help find them.  If someone wants to help, let me know.  All I would need is some simple text of a few sentences or a list.

I had to balance the contrast of the pages between photos and text.  I tried to keep the photos useful but they were not "photo sharp" to begin with.  If there is something special you would like me to try to resore better, let me know.  If you have your own version of a Hazelbaker Newsworthy History you would like to add to this list, let me know that too.  I can reproduce sharp photos and tell your family's story in your own words.

Let me know if these files are awkward to download or use. I apologize that this page is absolutely basic in appearance. I need to relearn how to apply atructure and formatting to my webpages using my program, Dreamweaver.
