I discovered this in the NJ Archives in Trenton, Feb, 2008. It is the Will of Alvina Insel. She signed it March 14, 1918, after the death of her husband and only one month before her own death April 15, 1918. She died of obstructive jaundice and it is possible she knew that her life was in danger.

She gave her financial instruments and furniture to her son (my Grandfather) Gustave Insel. She gave a piece of jewelry to the step-daughter (Florence Ambs) of her daughter Amanda, confirming the married name of Ambs and fixing the date of the marriage before 1918. She gave another piece of jewelry to her daughter, Anna. (A family member still has it!) The remainder of her jewelry she leaves to Amanda. The rest of her effects she divides among her three children. The remaining pages execute the will after her death. I do not recognize the names of the two witnesses: Henry Carless and Mary Wallersheim. We have samples of the signatures of Amanda and Gustave.

It is of note that in 1920, Gustave is living in the house with his sister Anna and her husband Harry Hof. I have no knowledge that the house was owned by the Insels. By 1930, Amanda, Anna, and Gustave were living elsewhere. In their later years, Anna and Gustave would again share (Anna's) house in new York.
