I found this in the New Jersey State Archives in Trenton in Feb 2007. It confirms some of what we already knew, but gives some inportant insights. Gustav was only 58 when he died 17 Sept 1917 of "nephritis" at his 59 Kenmore Ave. home in Newark. His birth date is given as 18 Jun 1859. He was working as a superintendant at a Button factory. (His daughter Amanda worked at a button factory when she was a young woman.) He was born in Germany and his father was Ferdinand. Gustav's wife, Alvina was the informant, but did not know the maiden name of the mother who was also born in Germany. We also learn here that Gustav was buried in the Lutheran Cemetery in Middle Village, New York.

We see Alvina's 1917 signature: Alvina Roemhild.
