I show the register below for two reasons. Sophia Baÿerl is my GGG Aunt and the sister of my GG Grandfather Joseph Bayerl who went to Dinkelsbühl. Her descendants were living in this house well into the 20th century. Today's German phone book lists 39 Gnugessers and nearly all live in small villages 30-40 km from Affing. I will try to make some contacts.  I also show these records because on the facing page was an entry that suggests that my GGG Grandfather Leonhard was living with his daughter Sophia at the time of his death in 1872.   I recently discovered much more about the Gnugessers.

The entry just above summarizes the history of my GG Grandfather Leonhard who was born 1795 , married 1823, and died in this house in 1872.  The comment on the far right reads "Vater des Weibes" or father of the wife.

Things were tough. Of the 6 children of Anton and Sophia, only two lived to adulthood, and of the 13 known grandchildren and great-grandchildren , only, 6 survived childhood.

One of these, Great Grandson Joseph, was one of those who survived and who raised a family in the home of his grandfather.  Great-grandson Joseph and his wife Theresa were having children as recently as 1938, including male children born in 1922 and 1925.  It is likely that there are living Gnugessers of the Affing line but I have not yet found any.

Great Grandson Joseph also survived the Great War of 1914.  I recently found his WWI military records and present them here.

Below is a box chart of the Gnugessers of Affing.  All but Anton himself are my blood relatives.  Some of the boxes contain links to other pages.  These can be revealed by moving your cursor over the boxes.  The names Anton, Joseph, and Ulrich are very old Gnugesser names.  I have recently extended the Gnugesser line back 3 generations in their ancestral grounds.  Please see those results here.
